Grade 9 I&S students are following up our previous unit on the Interwar Years with a brief look at significant events and concepts related to World War II.  The previous unit primarily focused on the League of Nations and efforts during the 1920s and ‘30s to prevent war through internationalism.  This current unit begins with the failures of those efforts by examining the rise of Adolf Hitler and Nazi Germany after 1933.  Students have engaged with concepts such as the consequences of totalitarian dictatorships, the impact of the Treaty of Versailles, and the causes and consequences of appeasement.  Ultimately, students will spend the next two weeks involved in an inquiry project that will assess all four criteria.  Specific task guidelines, assessment criteria details, and a timeline of formative check-ins is available on Google Classroom.  The final summative project is due on Sunday, January 16th.
