In Grade 8, the students have been diving into Blues and Jazz and their connection to Black culture in the US as well as the shared human experience. This week, they are working with a pre-approved playlist to select two pieces of their choosing for deep analysis. They will pick apart the melody, the rhythms, the instruments used, as well as the general construction of the piece. But rather than just share their knowledge in a slide show, the students will be making podcasts, further encouraging their creativity and personal expression. I for one am interested to hear their work!
