In Grade 8, the students are beginning to explore the difference between Blues and Jazz and their unique form of cultural expression. Born out of struggle, these two art forms have strong connections to regional and national identities. But can these two art form transcend national boundaries? How can these musical styles communicate not just lyrics, but universal emotions and global ideals? How do we connect to an Art form that is not from our home culture and experiences? The students will be investigating, connecting, and reflecting on these different styles of Music.
