The Grade 10 Individuals and Societies class is off to a great start this year. It has been a pleasure to get to know the many strengths and qualities of the students in Grade 10! This final year of the MYP experience provides an important and exciting opportunity to practice and build upon the academic skills that will ensure a smooth transition to the Diploma Programme in Grade 11. Currently, we are progressing through our first unit of inquiry which focuses on the idea that change and technological innovation can sometimes lead to conflict. We have been exploring this concept through an examination of the social and political realities in Iraq during the rule of Saddam Hussein. This week, students began a formative task assessing their ability to think critically while comparing and contrasting Saddam Hussein with other “strongmen” rulers from recent history. Assessment task guidelines and criteria can be found on Google Classroom and ManageBac.
