The grade 11’s and 10’s have been focussing on ‘building’ their practical skills. You might say their practical work skills are ‘under construction’. Due to lockdown some of the basic skills that have been honed over the last couple of years have declined due to lack of use and now is the time to focus and ‘build’ those skills up again. The grade 11’s have been investigating Hooke’s Law and transcribing DNA to mRNA and mRNA to proteins. These skills will be needed when the 11’s complete their Internal Assessments (IA) in the first semester of grade 12. The 10’s have been using dice as models for radioactive decay and using spreadsheets to model that decay process, these models are getting them ready for the Summative task at the end of the IDU with Maths.
