What an exciting Oman Week Grade 4 had. Our major classroom activity was a weaving project and it proved to be very educational. First, we learnt that there were many different ways to weave, and objects to weave with!

The students learnt what a loom was. We used a hand made foam board loom and used brown wool for the warp threads. The students learnt so many new words: loom, shuttle, warp, weft. They enjoyed my joke. How can you tell which thread is which? The weft threads go from weft to right!!

We insisted the students plan their weaving on a paper template first. They also designed and made their own shuttles to wind the wool onto for weaving. These were then laminated so they would run smoothly.

The students showed excitement, but mostly determination when attempting this new skill. Please come next week to the ABIS museum to see the results.
