In primary all grades have read the book “Those Darn Squirrels” by Adam Rubin. We have learned that squirrels are persistent, very smart and highly acrobatic. This week students have been challenged to solve the problem “how can we keep squirrels out of bird feeders?”. Students in second grade created a mind map together as a class to record what we know about this problem and what we need to find out. Students in 3 and 4 grades practiced making their own mind maps. 5th and 6th grade students were introduced to the Big6 method of research and also started to create their own mind maps.
