Who says learning grammar isn’t fun? Grade 8 French students played the “dice game” to review the different forms of the verb être (to be) and francophone countries. In their current unit of study, students are learning more about the French-speaking world and how to talk about themselves, including their nationalities.

Students worked in teams of three or four to review this information. One teammate rolled the dice while another typed the sentences on a shared Google Doc. The numbers on the dice correspond to a subject pronoun listed on the game instructions and the name of a French-speaking (francophone) country. Teams then added up the numbers on the dice to get a total for that sentence. At the end of play, the team with the highest number of points won euros.

Students were very involved, and some were quite competitive!
