As an introduction to our Peace unit, we asked the Grade 5 students to name as many countries on a world map as they could. Working in pairs and WITHOUT the aid of an atlas or technology it was a wonderful challenge for the students. We then led into looking at where wars are happening right now, to see if the students were aware of these.
