Grade 5 has been studying velocity. They calculated that Usain Bolt ran at 37.56 kph when he set the world record. The students were timed running for 10 seconds, then their distance was measured. In class we did the mathematics of metres per 10 seconds to metres per minute (x6). Then metres per minute to metres per hour (x60). Finally we converted the metres to kilometres by dividing the figure by 1,000.
