This week grade 8 mathematicians were investigating the relationship between the sides of a right angled triangle. To do this they were first examining Perigral’s dissection. Then they considered the form that this could be represented.

Academic honesty was also discussed and is it fair how some currently used formulae are named.

Also they were looking at the relationship between

  • the volumes of a cylinder and a cone
  • Pyramids and prisms
  • and how these can be represented as formulae.
  • The words in bold are some of the key concepts we are exploring through maths in this current unit. They will also be answering lots of questions.
