Everyone was excited this week to see our special guest, Mr. Plasbin (Mr. Martin Mbuta). Mr. Plasbin visited ABIS this week to talk about the 3 Rs – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and to begin a new “Reuse” art project. The theme of his visit was GIVE IT A NEW LIFE! In alignment with the theme, students from K3 to G12 worked to create a date palm tree out of used plastic water bottles that were collected from the homes of ABIS families.

The buzz in the school could be heard across the campus as primary students joined together to bring in over 2,200 water bottles. Thanks very much to the G6 class for initiating a collection challenge and inviting everyone to join them. Stay tuned for the contest winner announcement in next week’s primary assembly.

The date palm tree art project involved sorting and preparing the plastic water bottles to be added to the base, trunk, fronds, and dates of the tree. It was quite a process and it’s still going on! If you would like to volunteer to help work on it, please contact Mr. Davis (t.davis@abisoman.com). We hope to have the tree standing in the school before the December holiday.

Please also join the 5th ABIS Beach Clean-up at Umq Beach Park (Pirate Ship Park) on Saturday, 8 December from 8:30 – 11 am. Thank you for supporting our efforts to keep Oman clean and eco-friendly!

Together we can make a difference!!
