This week Grade 8 mathematicians were beginning to revise towards their first test, this Semester. They have also been considering, whilst doing this, about ATL skills. How to practice focus and concentration. It can be difficult to sit down for 30 to 40 minutes. Whenever they felt that they were loosing concentration they gave themselves the choices of,
- Standing up and walking around for a few moments
- Drinking water
- Changing work partner
- Changing work location
- Making sure they have a challenge
This also allowed me more time to give more focused support, when needed and also to make sure everyone could find their challenge.
After their test, next week, they will be reflecting on their personal learning strategies and will be considering what factors are important for helping me learn well. This should also help them when it comes to homework.
