In G7 Individuals & Societies class, students read and performed skits based on Origin Stories that have been passed down from generation-to-generation to try and answer the question, Where did we come from?” They studied a variety of cultures, including the Zulu and Efik people of Africa, the North American Iroquois people, the ancient Chinese people, the Judeo Christians, and our own modern scientific origin story. Respecting different cultural views about important questions like “Where did we come from?” is a great way for us to embrace international mindedness. As one student put it, “We get to learn lots of different types of cultures in a fun way which makes learning easier. It also helps people with respecting other cultures which is important. We also get to learn a lot about the earth and how people see different points of view on it.”
