Having some “Grit” goes a long way in becoming masters in mathematics. One of the ways G7 students are developing grit is through independent programs like Khan Academy and (new to ABIS) Mangahigh. These online programs provide students with a chance to independently explore new areas of math, and to revisit areas they struggle with. Students actually compete with themselves and advance to higher levels as they practice, view and learn through interactive games and instructional videos that support their learning.

In G7, it is expected that students complete a minimum of 30 minutes of independent study on one or both of these programs per week. If you would like to learn more about these programs click here for Khan Academy https://www.khanacademy.org/ and here for Mangahigh https://www.mangahigh.com/en/

Khan Academy has a “parent” tab where you can sign-up and support your son / daughter. I would encourage you to check out the tutorials for mentors and parents, and please feel free to let Mr. Davis know if you would like to learn more about getting involved in your son / daughters math program at ABIS. t.davis@abisoman.com
