“Books are a uniquely portable magic.” ― Stephen King, On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft

ABIS was transformed into a magical place as we celebrate Book Week. Teachers have done a fabulous job promoting the love of reading among the school community members. The house quiz tested students’ knowledge of novels read as part of the curriculum or for leisure. We enjoyed the whole-school parade with everybody dressed as a book character (we hope parents can join in the fun next year by dressing up as well). The event ended with a Student Council-sponsored screening of “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.”

We also had the pleasure of welcoming Mr. Sean Spratley in Mr. Davis’ Grade 9 Global Perspectives class who spoke about his work in sustainability. He captured the students’ interest by starting with Puck’s quote, “People saying that it can’t be done are always interrupted by somebody doing it.” It was good for our students to hear different perspectives on man’s impact to its environment.

Have an excellent long week-end.

Best regards,

Ann Gaillard
