Grade 8 has spent these past few weeks in Science learning about climate change and different types of energy resources for the production of electricity.
As part of their unit assessment, they prepared and delivered a presentation on one of the common energy resources. This week they began working on the second part of their assessment – an investigation into wind turbines with a detailed write-up. So far they have done the background research, chosen their variable to investigate (e.g. number of blades on the turbine, angle of attack, length or width of blades), designed and begun to build their wind turbines. The first students have already begun their investigation, with one of the turbines producing 0.09 Volts with just a single blade.
