When we arrived at a local Omani school near the Suk here in Sohar, ABIS Community Service students were warmly welcomed by the head mistress. Children, grades 2 and 3, gathered in the center of the school with anticipation, knowing that ABIS students were there to provide fun activities and learning experiences for all of them. The Omani students were glowing with smiles at each activity. The groups included: Art Group (create the color, and taste and guess); English Teaching (fruits & vegetables); Science (Flight and making Airplanes); Omani Dance / Musical Chairs; and Wishing Tree (make an origami wish on the tree). With these five activities, we rotate the children around so they could experience all of the activities that we had prepared for them.
And of course, the ABIS students enjoyed giving freely and actually doing “hands-on” Community Service! We hope we can spend more time with these children again soon, likely inviting them over to spend a couple of hours with us here at ABIS. Keep checking for more to come with ABIS Community Service. Together we can make a difference!
