Who’s the pot washers? Where are the cooks? Who’s the water carrier? Where’s the assistant to the assistant camp director?? These are a few questions you might hear at the G8 camp around meal times. G8 students were largely responsible for making meals happen and they rose to the challenge quite well.
The PADI diver’s licensing is well underway with G8 students having completed the classroom instruction and the pool practice. Now, all that’s left is the “Open Water” portion, to be completed around the end of March / early April.I could try to make a list of benefits Oman Week has for our students, but it would be countless! A few that come to mind are: it builds confidence; it promotes team work; it teaches independence; it creates a deeper sense of community… and I could go on and on. Basically, G8 students learned that they can survive out there, taking care of their basic needs, and have loads of fun doing it!
A few highlights include: the dive course itself; the boat trip and snorkling at the beautiful Dimaniyat Islands; the visit to Al Hazm Castle (an amazing place to visit if you ever have a chance); and students would probably say “the pizza!” This was an all around great adventure.
Special thanks to Julio’s Mom (Ana) for the tasty chili and cake on the first night, and to Sanna’s Mom (Stefanie) for bringing Wednesday’s lunch and driving to Al Hazm Castle. We very much appreciate your support!!
And good job G8s for being such a great class to spend Oman Week with!
