Students in grade 7 have been learning about the legacy of Ancient Greece, and our focus this week was on the process of democracy. We held a mock assembly meeting to discuss issues relevant to both Ancient Greece and today. Students had to develop a position, memorize it, and speak it in front of the assembly. Unfortunately, according to the rules of the assembly, they couldn’t speak more than once, which was a sore trial for some of them. They seem to like the chance for public speaking, and we will be doing more of it in the weeks ahead.
