What a marvelously exciting morning! Arriving at school watching buses loading with bags, bottles, bedding and kids, seeing Teacher Assistants putting the final touches on displays for the Launch Day and having teachers making final preparations for trips and events coming in the week – the school was a hive of activity this morning
The trips all got away safely and the first news in is that Grade Six are well on their way, staying at Police Island in the Dominayat Islands. They will be camping overnight there and then returning to stay by the Millennium where they will start their sailing course. The camel trekkers are off and marching along for their first day and the older kids have embarked on their adventures safely.
Launch Day was a success, with the students visiting different stations to learn about Omani culture, food, stories, bread making and weaving and trying the halwa and coffee. The day culminated in a fashion show with our students who dressed up modelling the different Omani regional dresses. Led by Miss Maram and Miss Nora, the children proudly marched along the carpets to appreciative applause from their audience. Thanks are due to our TAs and in particular Miss Fatma and Miss Ruqaiya from the office, who came in for several hours on Saturday to set up the space, and Miss Khadija for sourcing the majority of the items that were on display. The basket weaver and the bread maker visit us each year from the local Sohar souk, where you can purchase small items from them if you go and see.
What a great start! We look forward to an excellent week.
