I think Grade 4 may have set a world record for “amount of energy spent in a single day on a school field trip.” We had such an action-packed fun day!

We started the day at the Muscat Children’s Museum, a hands-on science center. The students explored principles of light, sound, gravity, and energy, among others. Highlights of the visit included making shadows, creating our own cartoons, observing optical illusions, and testing our reflex times and balance. Overall, I think the students had a great time!

Next, we went to Riyam Park where we had lots of free time to run around and play. Mr. G taught us some great new games that involved running all around the park. Just the tag games alone exhausted us, and we still hadn’t gone on the equipment or hiked yet!

Following lunch at the park, we made our way to the trail head where we started our 2 1/2 hour hike to Muttrah Souk. The students were really encouraging and supportive of each other throughout the hike. It was fairly strenuous for everyone.  I was so proud of their positive attitudes and sensible caution.

Finally, we spent the late afternoon/early evening bartering at the souk. Grade 4 did an awesome job and got some great deals! You can expect a few fun souvenirs when we all return.  The students said they felt so grown up buying things themselves! We ended the day having dinner at little food shop near the souk. Looking forward to tomorrow’s fun!
