History versus Maths

It’s been a busy week back from the break for students, who have now received their second and most detailed report for the year so far: the first Semester Report. This has stimulated much discussion around their personal targets and they will be reviewing and reflecting, whilst looking at strategies to improve performance in their subjects and achieve other personal targets. Another focus area is the student websites, and students will be urged to upload work with reflections in all subjects so that you can monitor their progress and also know what they have been doing in their classes. Overall, we are very pleased with the progress that students are making across the Secondary School and hope to continue building the momentum.

Today, we have had a very enjoyable CAS (Creativity, Action, Service) activity, led by two students called “Teacher Swap Day”, where a number of teachers literally swapped subjects for the day. To do this effectively they have carefully planned lessons with regular subject teachers so that their lessons can remain meaningful and learning focused. This is an original, one off activity which both teachers and students found very enjoyable. It broadens the teachers’ perspective and gives them an insight into a challenge of teaching other subjects. From this event we have discovered that a number of our teachers are very versatile and have secret ambitions to teach other subjects. I have attached a few pictures for you.

I wish you an enjoyable weekend on behalf of the secondary school!
