In G9 IGCSE music, we are studying the beginning of Western music, mainly Greek influence on music as we know it today (in Western culture).
We get to look at photographs of pots, papyrus, and clay tablets and (with the help of expert music historians) infer how music was played, when it was played, who played it, and why, all through the lense of what constitutes credible historical evidence.
This conversation allows us to talk about famous philosophers like Aristotle, the definition and importance of Ethos, as well as what was important to people of a different time.
