The Grade 9 unit on forces reached a high-flying conclusion as students transitioned from theory to aerospace engineering. By designing and testing model rockets and innovative rocket catchers, students actively explored the interplay between gravity and air resistance. The project challenged them to analyze energy transformations; tracking the shift from gravitational potential to kinetic energy during descent. The level of engagement was exceptional as students iterated their designs to minimize interfering forces, ensuring a safe recovery. This hands-on application perfectly solidified weeks of classroom learning, turning complex physical principles into a tangible, thrilling success.
