Dear Parents,

This week, our school has begun the WIDA testing process. WIDA is an important assessment that helps us understand how well students are developing their English language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

Why WIDA testing matters:

  • It shows us each child’s progress in English.

  • It helps teachers provide the right level of support and challenge in the classroom.

  • It gives students a chance to show what they can do in different areas of language.

📚 Who takes the WIDA test?
At our school, WIDA testing is done from Grade 2 to Grade 6 (Primary). This ensures we have the clearest picture of how students are developing their English during these important years.

💡 Important to know:
The WIDA test does not affect student grades or report cards. Instead, it simply helps us learn more about their English development so that we can provide the best possible support in class.

We want students to feel relaxed and confident during the process—it is not a test to “pass” or “fail,” but a chance to celebrate what they can already do and see how we can help them grow further.

Thank you for your continued support in your child’s learning journey.

Warm regards,

EAL specialist Team
