Good afternoon, KG1 families,
This week has been an exciting one, with both our class field trip to the beach and the children’s first experience performing on the big ABIS stage in the Mazoon! Finally, of course, we hope to seeing many of you later today at the ABIS International Food Evening.
Beach Trip
Yesterday, our long-anticipated field trip took place and the children had a wonderful time at the beach, digging and building in the sand, paddling (or lying down!) at the edge of the water, and collecting shells. A huge thank you to our energetic parent volunteers for your help in making the morning possible, and very exciting for the children. The trip was not only a fun experience for the children, but also a rich sensory adventure, allowing them to explore the sights, sounds, smells and textures of the beach. It will also serve as a great starting point for further discussions in our Unit of Inquiry about the different ways water is used. See below for some pictures of our beach adventure. On the bus on the way back, I was told “I love the beach” by one child and asked more than once when we are going back!
Assembly Performance
A big thank you to everyone who attended today’s assembly and supported the children’s performance. As you can imagine, even a short performance like today’s takes courage, learning and practice. We are very proud of the children for being such brave risk-takers; standing up in front of everyone at the age of only three or four. We are especially grateful to Mr Mino for preparing the children in their music lessons, and we hope you enjoyed seeing them up on stage.
Meeting the Baby Goats
At the beginning of the week the children were thrilled to visit the two newest members of the ABIS community—two baby goats (kids) born last week! They got a good view of one of the little ones, a beautiful brown goat, while the new baby black-haired goat was more shy and remained just out of sight. We plan to visit again in the coming weeks, as it will be fascinating for the children to observe how the goats grow and develop over time.
Finally, don’t forget that Sunday has been declared a holiday and school will be therefore be closed. Wishing you all a wonderful weekend and we will see you again on Monday.
Kind regards,
Kristina, Buthaina, and Rahma
