There is a new display in the French class and it’s all about 2 very cultural and important events, happening in February and March, in quite a few French speaking countries/ regions around the world. Can you guess which 2 events and where they are happening?

La chandeleur’ is our first event. It actually took place on February 2nd and is called pancake day in English. So, yes, on that day a lot of French speakers around the world make pancakes…..sorry … crêpes!  Do you know how to make crêpes? See the recipe right here!

Our second event is ‘Mardi Gras‘ or Fat Tuesday in English. It is a very festive celebration happening in many countries, not only French speaking ones. There are beautiful parades to watch or take part in in which people wear costumes and beautifully decorated eye masks. It is an opportunity to have fun and to eat well just before starting Lent.

In class, some students will use our great school kitchen to make crêpes and some others will design their own eye masks.

Happy celebrating!
