Dear Parents,
Thank you to those parents who came in to Grade 6 this morning. I hope it was an interesting experience to talk to the different students and to see how their Exhibition inquiries are evolving.
We have now completed week 7 of our 10 week PYP Exhibition in Grade 6. We are so close to the finishing line and it is important that the students remain focused. Momentum at this stage is essential, as well as a clear goal of the impact that students want to make with their Exhibition. Thank you for all your assistance and encouragement (that I know so many of you are giving to your child at home) to support them in this exciting inquiry.
It is worth noting that the ‘end product’ on February 26th, whilst being something that the students are very keen to be successful at, is really not the big purpose of the Exhibition. The Exhibition’s main goal is to give students a platform where they can apply all their skills and attributes that they have developed throughout their time in Primary school. It is the process that they go through over the 10 weeks that is so much more important than what the contents of their stand is. All these skills, be it self-management, thinking, research, social and communication – are core skills that they will need, not just in their rest of the time in school, but indeed in their whole lives.
The lessons, the reflections and the learning that come from going through a process such as the Exhibition, is infinitely more important than what their final stand looks like. So, whilst it is important to encourage and make the students have high expectations for themselves, we should not put too much pressure on them. As I keep saying to the students, this isn’t a competition, but an opportunity for all of us to try and go as far as we can, whatever that might look like at the end of the process.
Please see the invite below (you will get a glossy copy of this early next week). It would be wonderful if every student has their family at the Exhibition Finale to build a beautiful atmosphere and to be part of this celebration.
Have a great weekend,
Matt
