Dear Secondary Families,

Over the past two evenings, we had the pleasure of welcoming many of you to our Parent-Teacher Conferences. These conversations are a valuable opportunity to reflect on the Semester 1 Reports, celebrate student achievements, and set clear goals for the months ahead. We appreciate the time you took to meet with teachers and engage in meaningful discussions about your child’s progress. Partnership between home and school is essential, and your involvement plays a key role in supporting student success in the MYP and DP. Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to working together for a strong and successful Semester 2!

This week, our Grade 12 DP students have begun their Mock Examinations, an important milestone as they prepare for their final IB assessments. These exams provide a valuable opportunity for students to apply their knowledge, refine their exam techniques, and build the confidence needed for success in May. We have been impressed with their commitment, resilience, and academic maturity. Throughout this process, they are demonstrating key IB skills in action—from self-management and critical thinking to perseverance under pressure. These are the hallmarks of strong, effective learners and will serve them well not only in the IB but beyond. We encourage our DP students to maintain balance and well-being during this time, and we appreciate the ongoing support from parents and teachers in guiding them through this crucial stage. Best of luck to all our Grade 12s—we are proud of you!

Oman Week from the 9th – 13th February is rapidly approaching and we will have some activities in school during the week. I hope that students are excited about the residential trips many of them will be engaging in. This year, we are running the trips for each grade at different times to avoid the problems we encountered last year with adverse weather. Grade 7 will be attending a Water Sports Camp at Sifah Beach from the 17th – 19th February. Grade 8 will be attending a Sailing Camp at Mussanah Resort from the 10-12th February. Grades 9-12 will be attending a Nizwa/Muscat Cultural and Adventure trip from the 7th – 10th April. Final details will be provided next week.

Also on the horizon is International Night on 20th February, which promises to be a wonderful event. We hope to see a great turnout from our entire ABIS community. A big thank you to the parents, teachers and students who are leading this event and working hard behind the scenes to make it a success!

I hope you all enjoy the extended weekend.

Kind regards

Andy Cooper
