When we count, we start with rote counting, where we count out numbers in order and as fast and as far as we can. We need to deepen the students’ number concepts and look at counting out different objects. The students learned that when we use this skill, we must listen first to the amount we need to count out. That good counting-out skill involves only counting the object we have in our hand. We enquired into our five senses. We did a See, Think, Wonder activity where we looked at photos taken from our school environment. Some from interesting angles to make us think and reflect on how we look at the things around us. Then we went on a sensory walk, listening, looking, feeling, and smelling the world around us. Last week, we discussed our brain. This week, we listened to the Story “It’s not a stick. ” We learned from it that our brain can think creatively and that we can use our imagination.
