This week we read different stories and looked at many pictures of people from other countries. We talked about all the things we could see on the OUTSIDE when we meet a new person. We then talked about all the things that we can’t see right away when we meet someone. We made a list of all the things that are hard to see and all the things that are easy to see, we are calling this our Cultural Iceberg. In the coming weeks we will be looking more closely at cultural elements at the bottom of the iceberg.

September 21st was World Peace Day! We celebrated this day by talking about PEACE. We talked about when we feel peaceful and when we don’t feel peaceful. We learned about the war in Syria and learned about all the refugees that are fleeing Syria and looking for a safe place to live. We shared our feelings about war and tried to imagine what it would feel like to have to leave your home, bed, and toys behind. We decided that a good way to bring peace to the world is by sharing our thoughts and feelings about war.
