Dear Families

It is at this point in the year that we start looking towards the next academic year and what important changes may occur for our students. Transition can be exciting, but for some, also a little bit scary! For that reason, we look to support our students and parents as much as possible. Our current Grade 6 students will be moving into the MYP programme. They have been working extremely hard to prepare for their final exhibition of the PYP programme and and it has been great to see how proud and excited they have been in being able to exhibit their work. We are now doing a number of things to help prepare and support them in their transition from PYP to MYP;

  • Grade 6 students have prepared questions for our Grade 7 students who are providing them with answers through a variety of different presentations.
  • On May 17th, we will have a parent information evening in the Grade 7 teaching space from 17.30 – 18.30. This is where all Grade 6 parents can receive important information and ask questions.
  • On May 25th, Grade 6 students will be spending a day in the secondary school, where they will experience MYP classes and meet some of their teachers.

Our Grade 10 students are currently taking their final eAssessment exams. They have already met with their teachers and parents to choose their DP subjects for next year. They have also been asking our Grade 11 students a variety of questions and have had opportunities to join them in Advisory. When the exams are complete, we plan for them to move into the Grade 12 space so that can acclimatise with their new learning environment.

Our Grade 12 students have one more week of exams! They then have their Graduation Ceremony to look forward to on the 8th June. Transition will be different for each of them, but we know that they have the skills and attitudes to succeed in whatever they do!

I wish everybody a great weekend.

Andy
