Writing down ideas for See, Think, Wonder

This week in Grade 3, the students finished our How The World Works unit by watching ‘The Invention of Hugo Cabret’ and completing related activities. They worked in groups to decide which events happened in the book, which happened in the film and which happened in both. This created many conversations, opinions and questions for discussion.

To start our new unit, How We Organise Ourselves, the students looked at picture and then completed a See, Think, Wonder, where they had to write down what they see, what they think is happening and then what they wonder about it. This allowed the students to talk and identify keywords for the unit.

Students read every week in different ways and on Thursday they go to the library to choose books of interest. They then ‘Drop Everything and Read’ (DEAR), sometimes to themselves, sometimes to a friend and sometimes to the teacher.

The students also read books on Raz Kids, where they can also listen to the story and answer comprehension questions at the end.
