WEEK 28
Dear Parents and Guardians of KG1,
We have concluded our unit on “Sharing the Planet” this week. Our young learners had a wonderful time learning about identifying living and non-living things as well developing an understanding of sustainable practices such as reusing and reducing. We understand that these are complex concepts for our students, and we will continue to revisit them regularly to reinforce their understanding. It would be helpful if you could model these practices at home to support their learning.
We started attempting to write our names this week, focusing on the correct way to hold a marker/pencil crayon/crayon and also focusing on forming the letters in our names correctly. This is something which we will continue practicing in class.
In Maths we continued practicing our counting and being able to recognise numbers individually. We are also working on being able to count out a certain number of objects to correctly represent the number being shown e.g. seeing the number 4 and then being able to count out four objects to correctly represent the amount. It is important that students practice this at home too…counting the forks, knives, plates at dinner time or counting cars on the way to school.
We were reminded this week to:
- use English words to communicate with each other
- share and take turns
- be a principled and respectful person (this is very important)
- show kindness and caring to our friends – something we need to do everyday.
- include everyone in our games
- improve on our listening skills – following instructions that are given in class (and at home)

We wish you all a pleasant weekend 🙂
Warm regards,
Miss Erasmus, Ms. Buthaina, Ms Kamla and Ms Asila
