This week we focused on social responsibility. We asked each other questions like: “What if everybody dropped their backpack in the hallway?, “What if everybody is talking at the same time?, “What if everybody dropped one soda can on the floor?” etc. The students concluded that we all need to take responsibility for our own actions and that agreements can help us in taking those responsibilities.
I read aloud the book:”How full is your bucket?” We learned that everybody has an invisible bucket. When it’s empty, you feel bad. But when it is full, you feel great. Negative emotions will take a drop out of your bucket and positive emotions will put a drop in your bucket. We discovered that for every drop you helped put in someone else’s bucket, you fill another drop in your own bucket. This is how the students started brainstorming about our Grade 1 bucket fillers.
