Week 1 Review

Dear Students and Parents,

What a great week it has been. Our first week back at school for the year.

It was a real pleasure working with the Grade 6 students this week. This past week was a great week of learning engagements designed to help us get to know each other and re establish positive learning routines. Among other things, this week saw students thinking critically about setting up our essential agreements as a class and looking at how we as a grade 6 learning community will strive to make the class a positive, inclusive, challenging, supportive learning environment.

This week our learners also ‘Tuned’ into our first Unit Of Inquiry about ‘Who We Are’ as well as learning to develop a growth mindset, working together as a team,  solving a few puzzles and having a few laughs. This week, students have joined in their first specialist subjects, Music, PSPE and Art and are getting to know their teachers and what they will be doing in these classes this year.  For more information about what learning took place and what we did this week, please ask your children to explain; they are a great source of knowledge and talking about what they have done only helps to solidify their learning.

Please see the link below to see a review of this week in pictures. These  images can be a starting point for some interesting conversations as you talk with your children about all they have done this week.  I am sure they will be very happy to share the details with you.

Things to bring to school:

  • Hats (to leave at school. ‘No hat, no play’) and
  • Water bottles so they can play outside. Grade 6 are emergent leaders in our school and role model this positive behaviour for our younger learners.
  • A pair of headphones to use with your iPad. These can be either wireless/ bluetooth or the cable kind, as long as they work with your iPad.
  • iPad, please make sure this is charged and that you bring your charger as well.

Lunch & Snack 🙂 This week we have noticed a number of students with crisps, confectionery and processed food at school. Please help your child to make healthy choices for their snacks and lunch. This will be better for their growing strong healthy bodies and minds at the same time as reducing  processed food packaging and waste.

Thank you

As always, please let me know if you have any questions.

Sincere regards,

Your partners in Learning

Sri, Glen and Ms Maryam
