The Student Council would like to announce two events for next week: a Science Fiction/Star Wars Non-Uniform Day on Monday, May 4th, and a Movie Night on Wednesday, May 6th!

On May 4th, students from K1 to Grade 12 are invited to dress up as any science fiction book or movie character, but preferably a Star Wars character to celebrate the official “Star Wars” day.  House points will be given to all who participate and bonus points will be given to students with Star Wars themed costumes. There will be a parade from 8:20 – 8:40 in the Gym, at the end of which house points will be awarded for the best costume. Parents are welcome to participate and watch the parade.

The event is designed to build school spirit and be a fund raiser for the Maher charity and orphanage in India. Participating students are invited to make a donation between 100 baisas and 1 Rial, which can be given to their teacher or advisor.

There are a few rules in place:

  • Clothing should be ‘school appropriate’ meaning it must cover shoulders and knees and not be revealing.
  • Clothing should be loose and not tight fitting.
  • Any props brought in must be appropriate (ie, no weapons).

The event is voluntary but we hope to see you in your Sci-fi/Star Wars gear!

On May 6th, we will be screening the movie Big Hero 6 in the MPA, from 6 pm – 8 pm. There will be popcorn and juice boxes available to purchase for 100 bz each. All students are invited to attend, but please note that the movie is rated PG by the MPAA, meaning some material may be unsuitable for very young children. More information can be found on the Internet Movie Database Website (IMDB) at http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2245084/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1. Parents, you are encouraged to review the film before deciding to bring your children to the Movie Night.

May the 4th be with you!
