We have been studying an interdisciplinary unit, with Individuals and Societies, called Voices Form History. The theme is genocide and persecution and we are looking at literary responses to it. To do this, we have investigated poems written about the Holocaust, Rwanda and Rohingya. Students researched about the life of a particular poet and then analyzed a poem using a template based on poetic devices. We also identified common themes and asked whether this was an appropriate subject for poetry. We are just about to complete a summative task on this area. Next week we will be investigating movies about this topic. We then move on to looking at journal or diary entries, newspapers and documentaries.
