Many of you will have noticed changes in the Kindergarten area over the last two days.
Our K3 class has been growing over the year until, in December we reached our full class capacity. We had two students on the waiting list and instead of turning them away we decided that we would accept them.
At the same time we know how important getting the right staff to student ratio is to student learning so we went recruiting for a new teacher. Fortunately, we were able to find Ms Marie Barr who is a very experienced early years educator and she joined us in a few weeks ago. We will not be splitting the class but instead will have three staff members working with the whole group; splitting them and grouping them as appropriate.
We also know how important quality space is for learning so we worked together to develop two plans. The first is to create wonderful learning spaces out of the veranda spaces that have, up until now been under utilized. We are in the middle of this process. You will have seen the student made blinds and the next step is to fully develop the external spaces. In addition we decided to move the classrooms round so that the K3 children would have two learning spaces.
We completed this move yesterday and everyone is very happy with the new set up.
We are committed to have the best Kindergarten in Oman and are working hard to bring this to reality.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to speak with any member of the Kindergarten team or, of course, to me!
