We have just about reached the end of the first week of Grade 6. This week, we’ve set up systems in a number of different areas that will help us to organize our learning.

Reading-rewards.com takes the place of the traditional reading log, and allows students to keep track of what they read, but more importantly, to share what they’ve read with their classmates. (Plus, there is the opportunity to earn cool rewards like a week free from homework!)

We have just launched Edmodo, and so far we are working through the possibilities that this online learning platform will provide for us. I think it will really offer us some interesting classroom discussion possibilities.

Earlier this week, we set up Notability to be our primary digital note-taker. More and more, students are receiving digital copies of documents, and if we aren’t careful with how we store them, our “digital desks” might start to resemble some of the messier physical one.

Finally, the big new change that has swept through grade 6 has to be the change from Arabic language lessons to French. The kids so far have show great enthusiasm in regards to learning a new language, and are working hard In class and on Duolingo.

Next week will be our first homework for the year, and the launch of our first Unit of Inquiry. Stay tuned!
