This week the students have been focusing on identifying their names. In circle time they have been singing morning songs and sticking their names on the board. Many of them can now identify theirs and some of their friends names.

In Maths they have explored the number 0 and it’s value, they then read the story book “Zero Spots”. On Tuesday and Wednesday the children looked at shapes and patterns. They had great fun doing their own inquiry by using different materials and equipment. On Wednesday they enjoyed drawing pictures and exploring colours. In Art the students were being creative using natural materials and making murals.

A big focus this week has been our learner profile ‘Caring’. There have been lots of discussions about how we treat each other, the ECC environment and the equipment in it. Can you please talk about it at home, how we use our gentle hands, how to be caring and helpful (show them what it looks like.) and talk to them about their inside voices (softer and quieter) and their outside voices ( louder.) Ask them to clear up their own toys and show them how this is done, using gentle hands. Learning respect for each other is a crucial lesson at this age so thank you all for your support with this matter.
