Grade 7 have been introduced to the magical world of film making over the last couple of weeks. We have been looking at a range of techniques, such as different types of camera shots, lighting and visual effects. (The accompanying picture is an example of an extreme close up, in case you were wondering – but can you guess the actor and the film?)
The students have shown themselves to be enthusiastic inquirers; they have been collaborating effectively together in groups to identify and evaluate the techniques used in various movie clips, from The Lord of the Ring to Jason and the Argonauts. The ideas and observations to emerge have underlined their eagerness to learn and discuss new ideas.
