Last Thursday, the ABIS staff had two great in-house professional development sessions. After attending an Orton Gillingham workshop in Dubai, Ms. Sarah shared ways to better understand the complexities of the English language. She provided some strategies on teachers can build student’s  writing, reading and oral language skills.

With Mr. Gary Goodwin, the staff had a chance to experiment with elements of visual literacy to see how this powerful tool could be incorporated into their classrooms. Teachers were able to use simple marks to create simple images with complex meaning. They also looked at how fonts, stick figures, bullets, and connectors could make information more engaging, accessible and fun.
