On Monday four of Mr. Davis’ Grade 9 Global Perspectives students came in to lead activities and discussions with the Grade 6s. The focus was the global issue of food shortages. Billions of people around the world are affected by food shortages. Billions are surviving on less that 2 dollars a day. The lesson’s aim was to raise awareness and discuss ideas for what can be done to take action against this global problem.

A simulation activity helped the Grade 6s empathize with those around the world who are not as fortunate as we are at ABIS. We know there is enough food to feed everyone on the planet, yet billions are going without the nourishment they need.

The lesson ended with students brainstorming ways to take action in the face of this global crisis.

Thanks very much to the Grade 9s: Julio, Omar, Trina and Newton for all the thought, planning and preparation that went in to the lesson.
