The audience all agree that last night’s first DP Arts Recital was a very pleasant way to end the day. As part of their DP Arts requirements, Anton, Trisha, Willem and Andee, our four IB DP Arts candidates, showed their progress and growth in their respective fields. Anton played on the piano such varied pieces as Bach, Clementi, Gurlitt and Chopin.

Mr. Eric Griebenow played Trisha’s original composition entitled ‘Circles’ which was repeated from a simple, repeated passage that creates a force that drives the piece in a full circle.

Andee’s art pieces were inspired by the idea of human emotion and fear, and expressing the hidden feelings that many try to hide. Her centerpiece, a charcoal drawing, was the very beginning of the journey of human emotion and fear, and became the inspiration for the rest of her pieces.

Finally, Willem performed in front of the Mazoon building his work entitled ‘Reminiscent’ which is a set of pieces that focus on the truths of being a dancer, and what one has to deal with both on stage and off stage.

A huge thank you goes to their teachers, Mr. Griebenow, Ms. Chatterjea, Ms. Turton and Ms. Williams, who have worked tirelessly to develop our students’ creative skills, as well as to find opportunities for them to share their achievements to the school community.
