Grade 9 English students are developing their arguing skills. This is not to say that they are fighting in class, but rather that they are learning the elements of an argument, of taking a position and defending it. We’ve investigated into the very current topic of using social media and the Internet in general, and now they are investigating into issues that are passionate to them. We will use their ideas to creat two separate pieces of work–a persuasive essay in the form of a magazine article and a speech. Many are quite excited about the speeches and we are looking forward to seeing what they produce.
