Dear parents,
The focus in Advisory sessions this week has been how to be more organised. Many students have also been preparing for the Swimming gala on Monday by working out in the pool.
Student organisation is seen as a skill that can be developed and is essential for student success. In a school context we translate this into a range of areas such as managing a calendar, preparing for classes by bringing the correct equipment, filing work so that it can be retrieved, being in classes on time, completing homework on time to an acceptable quality. We ask parents to continue to support the work we do in school by encouraging and asking supporting questions. The well known “have you done your homework?” can be taken one step further into “have you done your homework? Would you mind if I have a look, as I am interested in what you’re learning at school?”
On that note, please remember to keep checking your son/daughter’s personal website to see what they are doing in classes and to see examples of their work and learning. We really welcome parents taking the time to offer feedback and read student reflections on their work. If you have not got a login for this then please let us know.
Today’s picture if of Secondary students preparing for Art day, which occurs on April 15. Mr Hampton will be coordinating this whole school event and will send out further information shortly.
Have a great weekend!
