Students in Grades 7 and 8 have spent an enjoyable week making slow but steady progress on their respective graphite drawings. It has been rewarding to see their ideas take shape as they develop their drawings from basic sketches into more finalized artworks, paying attention to details, shading, and the use of value. It has also been lovely to see students taking an interest in one another’s work, sharing ideas, and learning from the different approaches their classmates are taking. As their drawings develop, students are continuing to build their confidence and strengthen their drawing skills.

Grade 10 have also spent the week progressing with their charcoal drawings. Students are continuing to explore the expressive qualities of charcoal, building on their understanding of light and shadow to develop depth, contrast, and detail in their work. As they refine their drawings, they are making decisions about how to use the medium to communicate their ideas and personal expression. It has been great to see their continued progress as they experiment with the medium and develop their individual approaches.

Wishing everyone an enjoyable and restful October holiday!
