Dear Families,
We have had a lovely week in Grade 2C CATS, filled with creativity, collaboration and learning! As we head into the October holiday, we would like to wish all our families a safe, relaxing and enjoyable break. We hope you have plenty of time to rest, spend time together and make wonderful memories.
Unit of Inquiry
We continued exploring our unit, How We Organise Ourselves, focusing on community spaces and how they support people’s wellbeing. The children worked with shapes to design their own community spaces and thought about how these spaces can benefit people, plants and animals. We also enjoyed listening to the children present their cultural boxes and share special parts of their identities and cultures.
English
In English, we explored adjectives and how they can make our writing more interesting. The children worked in pairs to create poems inspired by community spaces. During our morning meetings, we also practised building interesting sentences by identifying nouns and adding adjectives to describe them.
Mathematics
Our mathematicians became more of shape detectives this week! Through our maths stations, the children explored 2D shapes, investigated their properties and used their mathematical thinking to solve different challenges.
Mental Health Week
As part of Mental Health Week, the children created worry dolls and reflected on their feelings and worries. This was a lovely opportunity to encourage conversations about emotions and explore ways we can support our own wellbeing and care for others.
Over the October Holiday
We encourage the children to enjoy a well-deserved break, spend time outdoors, read for pleasure and share their holiday adventures with family and friends. Little moments of reading, counting and conversation can help keep learning alive without taking away from the fun of the holiday!
Thank you, as always, for your continued support and partnership. We look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for another exciting term of learning.
Wishing you all a safe, happy and enjoyable October holiday!
Warm regards,
Cami
